Ultrafast Laser Spectroscopy of Chemical Reactions
نویسنده
چکیده
Ultrafast laser spectroscopy has extended reaction-dynamic studies into the dcosecond and femtosecond time domain. allowing for experimintal observations of transitory fragments that occur during collision or half-collision. This ability to observe molecular reactions allows real-time viewing of energy redistributions, measurements of state-to-state rates, and tests of microscopic statistical theories as prescribed by potential energy surface (PES) considerations. In this article, the focus is on unlmolecular reactions. Recent advances in the studies of "oriented" bimolecular reactions and "transition states" of elementary reactions are also briefly considered.

Transition-state spectroscopy using ultrashort laser pulses.
To gain a complete understanding of a chemical reaction, it is necessary to determine the structural changes that occur to the reacting molecules during the reaction. Chemists have long dreamed of being able to determine the molecular structure changes that occur during a chemical reaction, including the structures of transition states (TSs). The use of ultrafast spectroscopy to gain a detailed...
متن کاملDevelopment of Sub 10 fs Visible-NIR, UV, and DUV Pulses and Their Applications to Ultrafast Spectroscopy
In the first section of this Chapter, the basics of nonlinear optical (NLO) processes are systematically described. Then the generation of the visible pulse utilizing the NLO processes is described and ultrafast spectroscopy using the visible pulse is discussed. By using such short pulse, fast chemical reactions, which cannot be identified by utilizing strobe light or flash lamp, can be studied...

Ultrafast pulsed lasers find application in a range of spectroscopy and sensing techniques including laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), coherent Raman spectroscopy, and terahertz (THz) spectroscopy. Whether based on absorption or emission processes, the characteristics of these techniques are heavily influenced by the use of ultrafast pulses in the signal generation process. Depending...
متن کاملProbing structural evolution along multidimensional reaction coordinates with femtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy.
Mapping out multidimensional potential energy surfaces has been a goal of physical chemistry for decades in the quest to both predict and control chemical reactivity. Recently a new spectroscopic approach called Femtosecond Stimulated Raman Spectroscopy or FSRS was introduced that can structurally interrogate multiple dimensions of a reactive potential energy surface. FSRS is an ultrafast laser...
